Hi everybody - really need some advise

we are in Seaford and have Optus ADSL+ , fetch and a landline - total cost $110 per month

nbn is working around so it's not far off and we are not sure what to do but we are aware that when our house is connected we will have no phone service or internet

the wife and I both have mobiles connected with Belong

at present we we both use the internet with our iPads and just do the usual - Facebook , emails and youtube


when nbn connects and adsl+ ,land line and fetch are disconnected is our arrangement with Optus terminated as we are not on a contract but pay by direct debit

how do we arrange to reconnect on the internet and is there any one that is better than the other

we had suggested to use a company called OVO but on the net search it sounds difficult to understand what they offer of if it's good at all

many of you have been through the mill by now and would be in a position to suggest where we should be looking as some say nbn supplies a modem but others say you must buy your own

would appreciate your opinions

I dunno about optus. Telstra sent out the new nbn ready modem, as soon as you unplug the old one and turn the new one on they connect it automatically. Im not sure what exactly they do but i never lost service.

Sounds like you need to do some home work and shopping around. I pay 60 per month with belong for adsl2 - broadband is not available- and phone line in a suburb right near you and then net flix is 14 per month

, I would go through iSelect compare NBN, they will let you know if you get a modem etc and you can do everything related to the contract verbally, you might even find belong is available to supply NBN. Pretty easy

There's usually a fairly long period of grace before the land line gets turned off, so there shouldn't be any hurry to work out the best deal for you.

Be aware though, there are differences in phone connection, depending on whether you connect direct to the node or via the old copper cable. If you have a direct node connection, your phone set up is unaffected. If it's via copper to the node, then you can only have 1 internet compatible phone, if it's cordless, then multiple handsets are possible.

I would have recommended westnet, (excelent) but they were taken over by iinet, (not quite as good) then they were taken over by TPG, and they don't seem to have a clue

I'm with iinet and pay $100 pm with a fetch box and modem thrown in at the start. Can't complain as everything works perfect. Download a movie to watch on the plane in 1-2 mins whilst waiting for the Uber.

But it does matter who you use because where all that data goes back to is essentially one restriction. The good ISPs have more bandwidth per user on average compared to the bad ISPs. I keep on recommending Aussie Broadband even though I haven't used them, as their subscription ratio is good which means you are much more likely to get the level of bandwidth that you expect.
