It appears aliexpress has switched carriers and Aus Post are not delivering their orders, instead they are using iMile?

I've had two deliveries this week, both very average, old random cars with parcels just rattling around inside and completely untrained drivers, one even in bare feet. I know this because the photo of my parcel at the wrong house shows their bare foot.

It's had been a month or so since I have got anything from them but is this the new normal?

Yes - Aliexpress have been using iMile for a few months now (at least in Perth). On two occasions I have had an oversized package jammed into my letterbox - with about 2/3 the package sticking out and forcing the LB lid open, leaving the package in full view, and out in the rain. I sent iMile a complaint and the next delivery was on the porch near the front door.

You can get exactly the same from eBay.
Fill in a P.O. address of the national government carrier, the adv. says "postage standard , express" then you are told you are to track a courier company !
You seriously need to wrangle standard or seamail through national government carrier "postal services" and turn the parcel around the moment they disobeyed and threw it straight to a courier service.
Always point it's both advertised and agreed first by prior communications with them
