Yeah Macro, we build BYD setups for off grid but there is no way I would put one of those is a tinnie. The Marine environment demands waterproof equipment. Salt air is a killer let alone salt water. The battery was for my BIL ( brother-in-law) and he asked my advice. Being 24V, automatically ramped the price up and getting a reputable brand like Eneride put the price tag around $4,000. That's a lot of lead acid batteries, so he has come to the conclusion that a couple of 12V AGMs might be a bit more prudent. But had to go through the process for piece of mind. Cheers
For smaller units I build, like electric trolley and small tractor I used off the shelves battery for electric bikes. $250 to 400 a piece. From eBay. Solid aluminium case and charger. I bought 36 and 48v versions.
Again . Not water proof, but making some casing for calm water sailing should not be too difficult. I would use even chilly been to carry battery on tine. Eventually you are not going to immerse battery , just make them splash proof should be enough.
