Looking to buy a 24V Lithium Battery for a Trolling motor (Motorguide XI5), probably in the 100ah range. Any suggestions.

As it's going to be rolling around in tinnie, it would be nice to have something that is water proof. If it was going to be in a controlled environment then yeah, I would look at building my own. Just thought someone on here might have had some experience with a brought option. It would appear that the ones Itechworld sell aren't waterproof. Well that's what some of the reviews said. Horrendous price, that's putting it mildly.

Any reason why you're set on lithium?
I do a lot of fishing on my boat and my mates boat, granted both 12V Minn Kota electrics. I run an AGM and he runs what looks like a damn car battery. In both boats, we spend a LOT of time running the electric - between simply spot-lock on fish/structure or moving between marks - and have never, ever run out of battery. Ever.
That said, bigger boat (hence 24V) and run of the water could dictate higher energy demands.....
But again, why lithium? Not being a smart arse....

I did build few sets of lithium battery bank's. 15kwh 48v for off grid home, 80v 10kwh for my electric ATV.
Lithium battery is 3x lighter then lead acid, , actually cheaper per kWh and last longer. My brand new AGM were written off after just 3 years, but lithium will last for several years now. Building your own from imported from China cells could be cheaper but building need some knowledge. Easy way is to buy ready box from Aussie supplier.

Yeah Macro, we build BYD setups for off grid but there is no way I would put one of those is a tinnie. The Marine environment demands waterproof equipment. Salt air is a killer let alone salt water. The battery was for my BIL ( brother-in-law) and he asked my advice. Being 24V, automatically ramped the price up and getting a reputable brand like Eneride put the price tag around $4,000. That's a lot of lead acid batteries, so he has come to the conclusion that a couple of 12V AGMs might be a bit more prudent. But had to go through the process for piece of mind. Cheers

For smaller units I build, like electric trolley and small tractor I used off the shelves battery for electric bikes. $250 to 400 a piece. From eBay. Solid aluminium case and charger. I bought 36 and 48v versions.
Again . Not water proof, but making some casing for calm water sailing should not be too difficult. I would use even chilly been to carry battery on tine. Eventually you are not going to immerse battery , just make them splash proof should be enough.
