Hey Guys, I know this isn't lwater related but I know a few of you on here know and like cars. The wife has been hassling me for a year now to sell our prestigious 2006 Mitsubishi 380 as she hates it and wants a wagon. Our budget limits us as we want to spend about 12-15K. I originally was thinkging 2007ish Outback but now I am leaning towards a 2007ish Passat wagon. Anyone had any experience with these cars or have any opinions. I dont think I need the Subie as I don't need the AWD and it is a bit more thirsty on Petrol. Any help would be appreciated.

Please help!!

I have had a couple of Passat wagons, and still have one that I bought new in 2009. There has only been one thing ever go wrong which was some ABS controller thing, and VW fixed it for nothing even though it was outside of warranty.

For the watersports enthusiast the Passat is also handy with the way the front seat folds - you can get it pretty much completely flat so it fits three boards, plus sails masts etc.

Horrific parts cost and breaks down sometimes, vs. horrific parts cost and hardly ever breaks down (and can do some easy-ish beach work).

Comes down to are u a euro man or a jap man?

Either is way better than the Mitsi 380

Because of budget, get a commodore

I am always nervous about euro cars coz of parts cost... Particularly 7 year old ones where stuff like water pumps start to bust.

I have a MY14 outback... Awesome car...

Just buy your parts from the uk and have the mechanic fit it, a timing belt here in gero for a Audi all road was $200+ I got one from my old dealer in Preston Audi for under$50 delivered, also my str Nissan had fuel pump dramas, I was quoted $4000, got one from Manchester delivered under $1200, it's australia, sun and wind are free and in abundance though

Find the best 3L litre Camry wagon you can (they stopped doing wagons around 2002??) Good for at least 500,000 km with nothing more than oil changes every 10k and timing belt every 100k. It'll probably cost you about $5K.
