Thinking of lighting up some citrus trees I have against my fence. Dont think I need fancy remote control - maybe just an off/on switch. Anyone used the cheap stuff from Bunnings or is it worth going proper lighting shop?

was thinking that but trees shade the panels - have about 10 trees to light up (if I end up bothering).

whats the point whose going to be looking sat the litup trees and saying 'oh isnt that pretty, dont they look nice, think I'll go have a slash on that one'. at 2 oclock in the morning.

I'd suggest going down the local servo.

10 litres of premium should have 'em lit up good.

Here's a plan, put the lights in front of the solar panels. They will charge the panels. The panels will then charge the lights. The lights will charge the panels ........ endlessly. Am I a genius, or am I a genius?

Sorry mate won't work, due to hysteresis, there'll be a delay, and they will just oscillate, probably at 2hz

Then you first boost it using car headlights from a battery. A jump start...

The difference in lighting up your citrus with the cheap 12v solar DIY from bunnings and proper 240v lighting shop will be apples and oranges.

The whole idea just seems like a bit of a lemon.

check out aanda-lighting.com i bought few garden lights and a floodlight saved 50bucks all up , i cant remember what the total bill was but i remember comparing prices and was shocked how much the price difference was, and more than happy with the quality and how the outdoor setup turned out

i'm using an old PC power supply and packs of bunnings 2watt 12v led bulbs inside some pvc pipe as bollard lights. I've used cut down empty soda water bottles wrapped into a tube as the glass, and some baking paper to diffuse the lights. They have been going for 6 years or more
