Hi everyone,
I have designed and made a sand anchor for launching and landing your kite for myself and a friend of mine. We are really happy with the result and have produced a few more if anyone is interested. I have always self-launched and landed and still believe that these are necessary and important skills that everybody should learn and know. But after using a sand anchor for a while now, I love its ease and convenience and some of the benefits it provides:
? The ability to launch and land on your own
? The ability to launch and land in small confined areas with limited room to self-launch
? Reduced risk for mishap from traditional self-launching and landing methods
? Reduced wear on you kite from traditional self-launching and landing methods
? The ability to check your bar and lines
? Reduced chances of puncture to your bladder from sticks and sharp fragments etc. that also may result from traditional methods of self-launching and landing
I have manufactured it from stainless steel to resist ocean environments with a detachable handle for easy storage. Tested in a variety of conditions from 17knots to 35+ knots, on a variety of kites from 12m to 7m. And in various sand densities. It is a strong, solid and reliable sand anchor.
