I have being on this site from time to time checking out wind forecast. I recently moved over to Perth from Sydney.
When I first moved over I was a bit disappointed because it was windy all the time, my mate told me before hand that Perth was the 3rd windiest city in the world.

Anyways all that's aside me and a mate recently decided we need talk up a new hobby to fill in the gap when the winds are too strong to go flying. We got some Kite surfing lessons and bought some gear and we are well and truly hooked. A few years back I lived with a bunch of guys who worked in a kite surfing school and I never got into it as I was Djing and into motorbikes, kicking myself my for not taking it up then and getting all the lesions from the guys!!

Despite the face plants and the very hard bring back the kite up the beach I love it, both my mate and I are now able to get on the board and go in one direction and with a little look get back on the board the other way. Every time we go out there we learn a little bit more. I used to do some land kiting so have a reasonable idea of how to handle the kite/wing etc.

Most people have being very helpful giving us advice and you can tell most kiters are looking out for each other!! We usually kite down at apple cross in Perth. If you kite down that way and see a white VW T4 transporter, feel free to pop over and say hello, we are green horns too!!

I was down at Applecross at the weekend and winds died completely, if I had my paramotor equipment with me I would have gone flying. Not a bad day if we can spend a afternoon kite surfing followed by strapping up and flying in the skies when the breeze eases off.
