The image below indicates the recently proposed kite exclusion zones and the designated kite launch/landing zone at Mullaloo beach.

Exclusion Zone 1, which extends along the beach for 1.5km in front of the Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club (611m north and 889m south of the Surf Club) and 200m seawards from the low water mark;

Exclusion Zone 2, which extends along the beach for 700m on North Mullaloo Beach (300m north and 400m south of the West View Boulevard Car Park beach access path) and 200m seawards from the low water mark; and

Designated Area on the beach for launching and landing, which extends along the beach for 345m between Exclusion Zone 1 and Exclusion Zone 2.

Given the alternative was an exclusion zone along the entire Mullaloo beach front, these zones are the outcome of extensive negotiations with the City of Joodalup.

These zones have been supported by the Mullaloo SLSC - without their support we would have ended up with a complete ban at Mullaloo.

The long term continuity of the designated launch/landing area will be contingent upon self regulation by local kiters and kiters working with the City of Joondalup and Mullaloo SLSC to make sure the zones work. We expect Joondalup to install appropriate signage in the short term.
