I heading up to Palm Cove >12 Aug for a week and thinking of bringing my toys. I'm trying to get an understanding of the wind conditions. What sort of winds can I expect this time of year and what is the best weather station to review - is it Cairns ,Cairns Racecourse or Arlington Reef ? There does not seem to be a huge difference. Am I correct that the wind is typically 12-18 knot, or does it get stronger/weaker at this location.
Are there any specific things good / bad that I need to know about Palm Cove and-or groups that go out in this area ?
At 85kg I'm thinking maybe 11m-15m on 143 board (maybe take 165 as well) would cover me.
