Some hypothetical vector calculations showing that using a planing hull for vertical lift and a fin for lateral lift is not as efficient as using just one foil(or hull) inclined at the right angle - as kiters do. But even a fin canted to 15 degrees relieves a lot of the work done by the hull and shows good improvement. Explains why the flexi fins on Formula boards work so well. The units are all arbitrary, not real numbers but show the idea.
