I have the long wheel base hiace , parking and traffic are easy they have a excelent turn circle ,easyer than the wives cx8 to park and less blind spot . the extra room allows me to have a raised fridge and camp kitcen and sleeping. I can slide a sup inside if i fold down front seat
I have seven sails two booms 3 boards and four masts plus accessories in it now, still room for two german shepards and a blow up sup

Great question Paul ,when I built my trailer I had to go 3 metres ,my big 9,5 and the 250 mast plus bags fit in well doors close snug.
also a 9 foot SUP .my friend has the SWB .everything will fit in ,a slight angle on the long ones is required but no big deal
when we go up North west we always hire the long wheel base hiace ,it is a bigger van by a lot and parking does require some skills
but it was nicer to lay down in .it depends on how big the cab is as hi ace has put noses on their Vans now so rear space is smaller .
If its for everyday use I probably would buy the SWB.because it's easier to drive in traffic and everything fits .If camping in it too I would go the LWB.

I was there 2 weeks ago giving my son his first drive on sand and flicking a few lure around the northern side river mouth..

there was a breakthrough on the northern side a couple of weeks back which has increased the size of the area a lot so it's looking great. lots of banks there and some of it pretty soft. At low the tide was ripping out.

the runs are longer now. I'd caution about sailing there on a fast outgoing tide which is the case for all rivermouths and bar crossings and agree with tomp it's prob too shallow on lower tides.

Something I've always wanted to do is hire a bbq boat, anchor it over the sand banks opposite Russell street at high tide and go blasting straight off the back of the boat.

Russell St was NE'r. Prob could do SE but it's too patchy.

Lake Wyeba is an option but may be worth going to Lake Cotharbar....araba in SE although I'm unsure of the best launch spot. Boreen Pt?

If you are willing to do a drive (which is close'ish to Noosa), then Golden Beach works well - both inside the pond for flat water and on the southern-side on the ocean side for some wave-jumping.

I haven't been to Noosa for a couple of years but last time there I sailed the river mouth. N/E wind about 15 knots maybe 20 max. Outnumbered by kites 25 to 1, they're addicted to that spot. Was good, not great. I have wave gear so bigger board better suited.

The bar gets super shallow in parts. Mid tide & more not an issue. Can be sailed in SE if strong enough. I think the wave-sailors go to Peregian / Marcus in N/E if any haven't converted to wing foil.

I have also launched from the caravan park in Noosaville, off Russell Street.
