There will be a group of sailors taking off from Hangover Bay and finishing at the Lobster Shack on the Australia Day weekend if anyone wants to join in. The best day for the Race will be updated closer to launch. Probably by Thursday afternoon.

Sailing is for fun and we will stick together and form a buddy system of similar levels.
This is not part of any group, company, club or associated with any kind of affiliation. Join in at your own risk!!We will have a few Personal Locating Beacons and mobile phones amongst us and will notify the local sea rescue of our approximate start and finish times.

Hope to see a few keen faces there. This is a bit of a trial run for possible future options

Unfortunately i have been sick for the past week and wont be able to do the downwinder.

It is going to run on Friday and if you want to get in contact with the crew please talk to Whitey76 (commented above) about more info and times. There is a small crew already keen as mustard so get amongst it!

I would suggest to get there early by 10am latest, incase the place goes ballistic and it will be too windy.

Have fun and don't do anything i wouldn't do

PS I would strongly advise to not take off the beach on a SE wind

Did you GPS it. How far was it and how long did it take. What kit was used and how was the water state? How many sailed? Well done sounded like fun.

Yup, I will download the track when I get home. It was 21 nautical miles, the first few were very slow and frustrating until the wind filled in.

Most keen people had last minute dramas so ended up being 3 of us.

I was on a 4.7 Gator with Fcross board, great for the choppier water state once the wind picked up. Wasn't much swell so no big rollers but enough to get plenty of air time ??

Was easy to pull in at beach for rest, stayed inside the outer reef and only notice one really shallow table to raise concern of grounding your fin.

We had a drama half way when Mike exploded the nose of his board. Spent awhile on the beach taping it up (didn't seem to help much).

All up it took a couple of hours, could have been half that if we had wind at start.

Definitely keen to do it more often

Was great fun, like doing the lanno distance wise, but cervantes conditions. The beer and steak tonight was also epic.
