Great work for not cutting. The consiquences of the hero shot are seldom seen.

Good to see even the locals have bail outs....

You can still tell it's Brett destroying those waves.

Nice action shot Mastbender. How did that scenario play out? Looks like there was plenty of damage potential to that sparkling new kit there.

Cheers, Jens

I like Shot 1 where Kia Bates is left with a fully shredded wave to attempt the climb.
Been there.
No doubt it was George (Mick Westra) who would have made that mess and at that moment would have been 200m further down the beach.
No one gouges deeper than George.
He's also way too fast for any cameraman to keep up with his pace.

That is a shot from www.pwaworldtour.com/index.php?id=920 at the Maui Aloha Classic which is sorta going on right now (on hold due to no wind and huge surf), it is Federico "it can happen to anyone" Morisio from Italy, a very talented pro.
You'd be surprised at how many boards and rigs get washed up on the rocks, only to be rescued with minor damage, but, you'd also be surprised at how many boards and rigs get damaged without hitting anything harder than flesh or water. There has been quite a bit of kit carnage in this contest.
If I remember correctly, Federico was able to get back out there with little problem, one of the lucky ones.

Robbie Nash on the other hand wasn't so lucky, he had to take the walk of shame over the rocks.
Pre wash in.

He never quit using and uphaul, he uses it for this purpose pictured, and it seems to be a quicker way to get up and going again.
A trick used by some, but not many pros.
