Blouberg isn't amazing. It can be fun but Melkbos is the only spot I've enjoyed up there. Judging from videos and pics of Coronation, it looks quite similar to there.
Scarborough on the other hand, is better than all the blouberg spots put together. Plus it's quiet. Downside is it's a nightmare to sail with more than 3 folk out :(
I think you'll find that Blouberg beaches have their good days, just like anywhere, and there are several launch spots to choose from.
You maybe need to stay longer next time.
The main advantage of Blouberg is that, in the windy season, local effects ensure strong late afternoon wind.
(There's also plenty of other stuff to do - in the mornings or when the wind doesn't blow. )
I personally wouldn't stay down south to get the best overall conditions. For sure the waves can be bigger there, but that depends on the swell direction and time of year
And down south you are limited to 2 or 3 beaches, and there's f'all to do in the evenings.
When the southeaster cycle begins, it's best to head north - to Yzerfontein, Swartriet, Paternoster, or even Elands. At that point in the typical cycle, there is no wind down south.
If based in Blouberg, you can stay and sail local beaches, or else you head north or south when you need to.
Anyway. It's now March which is end of the windy season, but we have a southeaster tomorrow.
