Apologies upfront if this has been asked before, but any suggestions for a suitable location for a family holiday where we can dust off the board and give the kids a go?

Ideally needing safe flat water, suitable for beginners within a few hours of Melbourne (Geelong actually) for a weekend or a few days.

cabins/caravan park/onsite van would be great, plus 30 degrees, 5 - 10 knots, water temp around 25, sandy beach, local pub withing walking distance, shady location, no jetski's, no marshies.......

I know inverloch is often talked about here, but I've never been would this be suitable or wrong place for beginners?

many thanks for your input.

Inverloch is one of the best places for a hoilday and for beginner windsurfers to have ago. Just got to keep an eye on the no boating zones, swimmers and kiteers.

On the Bay, Rye is great spot to. As it shallow, but you will also need to find a spot with miniumal swimmers around you.

Inverloch is definitely the go for safe waters. Check out www.inverlochwindsurf.org.au to see a few of the pics of the sailing days we have had down there. Or search Vic forum for Inverloch or IWC

Nothing wrong with the locals, an extra head and banjo playing are acquired tastes.
