You left out

Pt Fairy

Portland (Dutton Way)

Cape Bridgewater

A little away from Melb, but Vic just the same, and no overcrowding issues

It was mainly for south east vic. I love Portland just had a holiday over at
warnambool. I had a look at portland on the way home. such a nice place was real windy, but did not see any windsurfers and did not get a chance to check out Port Fairy. I will next time, I heard by some locals thats where all the windsurfers go. There was one guy wave sailing in warnambool and alot of kiters. I was amazed at how fast the wind blows in there and its so consistant. I then went on to have a look at point danger on the way home for the first time. All I can say is, wow, that place rocks. super windy and clean waves. There were like 30 windsurfers out and a heap of kiters, looked like a place in maui. Point danger is victorias best kept secrete.
So I am amazed at how good the south west coast of victoria is for windsurfing I have to get back there.

no cross on shore blowing from seal rocks, phillip island. point leo is better for waves. shoreham i think is good for waves on a real strong sw wind the waves are small most the time but still a nice place to sail. Point leo is where most the time you will see guys out on a good se. i have seen some guys sail shoreham but not as many. They tend to like point leo more.

cross off is, north east, north west.

also they are great places when its blowing south west
at point leo in a SW in winter i have seen wave sailors sailing waves as big as some of the surf beaches you see in maui like over mast hight wish i had a camera back then.

But really if you want big waves for a south east your best going to flinders the place rocks in a se.

Where do you launch / park at Flinders Rocks?

Do you have to drive through the Golf course to get to one of the back beaches?

What sort of tides work best?

Yes you drive through the golf course down to the beach. I think you can sail it in any tides does not really matter. The place has alot of reefs so the waves are spaced out so you can get good run ups for jumping.

Did you guys sail at Flinders? I'm sure it would of been awesome...If so how was it? I would of been there but was pressed for time. Sailed at Ricketts on my 4.0 / 68 ltr board, it was really good for a bay sail.

I sailed balnarring there were only about 6 windsurfers and a hundred kiters all ripping it up. we need more windsurfers up this way come over guys. I think flinders would of been great wish i got to check it out today.
