mr. bom says 40 km/h northly around midday with little rain. so the wind fans should be turned on at rye.

maybe spotty could go for 40 knots this time.

Yeah I'll be there if the forecast holds.

Hey Mrwindsurf, you should get out your camera again and get some footage of everyone and post it on youtube again.

Grab some footage of different sailors both setting up and sailing. Then we can link it to people who want to know what Rye is like and see some of the regulars.

I guess it depends on how early on Saturday the 25 knots is going to eventuate, or on the other hand, how late the 25 knots on Sunday morning is going to back off. I see that the Rye yacht club web cam is still not working

Yeah, I was undecided on - to have a later sail on Saturday or early Sunday. Likely it'll all change anyway...

Yeah I might do Rye Sat afternoon then just go out locally on Sun morning so I don't feel disappointed when it drops out after a longer drive.

Not sure where you are getting the hail bit from but from BOM site @ 3.37 Thur

Forecast for Sunday
Cloudy periods with isolated showers clearing during the afternoon. Winds northwesterly averaging 20 to 30 km/h.

and

Marine Forecast for Sunday
Winds: North to northwesterly 20 to 25 knots tending west to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots during the early afternoon then tending north to northwesterly during the evening.

At this stage both days look sailable. Sat will be more Northerly while Sunday will have some west in it.

Down this way, I always tend to take 5 - 10 knots off forecast for Melb.

Sweet! Saturday has been upgraded.

Forecast for Saturday
Winds: Northerly 10 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots in the morning.
Seas: 0.5 to 1 metres increasing to 1 to 2 metres during the morning.

Think it's gonna be a "bring my lunch" day and head there late morning straight after work. Thankfully we miss the super low tide too.

Just wish it had a little more west in it. Those side on wave jumps often turn nasty.

Just dead on down the Mornington Peninsula Fwy, follow the signs to Rye; left onto Eastborne Rd, then left onto Point Nepean Rd. Just as you enter Rye township, look out your window... you should see lots of cars (say 10-20) parked between trees, in a parking bay - lots of grass to rig up on, and a toilet block too. If you go past Rye yacht club, then you've gone too far.

You cant really sail past Portsea as beach access gets difficult... there used to be a large contingent that sailed off of Blairgowrie, but I dont know about Point King Rd... a lot of the beaches towards Sorrento, are semi-private.

Yeah great directions from Windaddict. Most likely you will drive past the entrance first time, because it seems to hit you suddenly. If you get into the main part of town you're too far. Doubt you'll be able to miss all the cars and windsurfers zipping past.

Don't forget to come say hello guys. I can usually only recognise some folk after they are in the water by their sails. I'm the big dark fella.

You get some nice fat rolling waves nearer towards the pier...not too bad for jumping and riding considering how onshore it is.
