I am a novice (<20hrs on the water) who has moved to Sale Vic from Canberra. I am looking for a spot to sail that is closer than Sandy point so that I have an option for a sail in the evening after work. I have heard that Lake Wellington is a possibility, but having been down to Marlay Point for a look, I wonder if there is some local knowledge that can be imparted on places to sail within half an hour of Sale?

Thanks Pips

what about that power station lake? Can't remember the name somewhere near Taralgon I think, they say its nice and warm as the water cools the power station.
Someone will have more info than me.

PM Sailquick he,s in Sale. Hazel pondage works in a NW but watch out for the ear infections and can get lumpy with a lot of wind. Went surfing in 470,s one year. The water is nice and warm though.

Marley point works fine on any easterly breeze , gets good afternoon easterlies over the summer months. Its a bit choppy but you learn to live with it.
