It was great to see so many people out at the Gap ripping it up, great comp and some awesome moves - Evan Hawkey took 1st place in a tough hotly contested final. The predicted 30 knots arrived and probably gusted a bit stronger out the back, reasonable waves too.

Here are a couple of pics, I have uploaded 150+ to website (www.whitecapsphotography.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=7395502) but this is only a 3rd of pics taken. Let me know if you cant find yourself. Also, many are a part of a sequence. All shots are available on DVD for only $25.00 - order it here... www.whitecapsphotography.com/shqcupweekend2009.htm

Awesome photos Jodie.

Don't think speed sailing still shots will look quite so spectacular, would be better in motion.

Inlet photos coming soon and it is hard making them look as spectacular as wave sailing, but they are v different specialties. The ones from Mon had some nice arvo light :)

Yeh Joel, I got 3 or 4 sequences of you - all but one are in close to shore, felt like I could reach out and touch you - gotta love that 400 zoom lens :).

Hey Joel , Wind dropped out pretty soon after it swang enough to get on the speed course. Spotty was quickest with a 44 something. I think I was next with a 42.993 but had a 44.5 1 second.
I hit the bottom at over 40 and trashed my boom and my body. Limping now but I will live
You guy,s looked awesome out in the waves Tues Morning in bloody wild conditions, well done.
Great shots as well Jodi.

Ka are going off with there sails designs. I think they might start stealing business from neil pryde watching the guys fly down the speed strip with the new model 2010 ka race sails. It looked so unreal, you had to be there to see it. We want to see the speed sailing pics jodie of the Ka team

Cool Jodi, Just after that shot of the 4 of us was taken we overtook a kite which decided to launch itself in the middle of us. Mayhem!!!!! It was fun drag racing each other, but yep,Wave sailing does make for much better photo's.
The 2 KaRace sails are prototypes, not quite enough luff round just above the boom causing those creases plus both masts were too soft especially the one Spotty was using. Next set of proto's will be as clean as the Koncepts.
