I tried windsurfing a while back in Greece and have a bit of sailing experience.
So I'm trying to work out where in Melbourne i should go to buy the a basic board and sail. So I'm thinking I should look for something second hand but have no idea what I should look for or how much it will cost?

Considering the little experience you have, I'd suggest buying from one of our windsufing shops:
The Zu, St. Kilda
RPS The Board Store, in Elwood
SHQ in Sandringham.
