Hello, only new to this. Ive been down to Sandringham hired a setup for an hour and plan to get some lessons soon. Thought i did really well with no instructions and just having a go. Good old YouTube before i went down there to get some pointers.
Anyway i did the buy some old windsurfing stuff on eBay thing 
yes some would say that's a bad idea but for the little amount of money Ive spent on eBay and the couple of things Ive bought from SHQ I think Ive got some OK gear to start with old gear but OK.
I'm looking for somewhere to practice. I live in Aspendale, so yeah Bonbeach etc is the plan but have read some things about Sandy Point and was thinking of going down there this weekend.
So is it a good spot to do some falling in the water practice?, and will there be anyone down there and appropriate conditions? any other advice will be greatly appreciated.
Looks like e to SE winds this weekend again so if your heading down that way Inverloch might be the better choice. Head to the angling club near the big 4. Plenty of windsurfers there most weekends year round - you'll be sure to get plenty of tips. Great safe spot to learn.
