And before one of you smart a$$es say thewindmap, heaps of locations have not been updated with best wind directions so I wanted to get a wider point of view.
With my limited wind theory knowledge I am guessing that Mentone or slightly further down might be best.
What you say?
I would assume the further north you go the better based on the curve of the bay. I haven't actually sailed any further north than Frankston. Frankston and down in is really crap in that wind direction, just too many wind shadows and offshore, I only sail that on my Hypersonic for safety. Other option in the south is to hit Western Port Bay, Pt. Leo, Shoreham, etc.
Whoa - pretty harsh ![]()
If there wasn't so many boats it would probably be okay-ish..... well, close to okay-ish.....
I think take your 7.2m... my theory, fly the biggest sail you have, keep the small one in the car... chances are.... wind will always be weak..... prove me wrong huey, prove me wrong!
Dendy St in Brighton is AWESOME in a SSW. SSW is the best direction for this spot with flat water on the inside and sweet ramps past the markers. a few rocks to watch out for in close but once you know where they are it's no problem.
Elwood is good too - although I'm not a fan of the water quality there!
How will Dendy be after the new Parks Victoria regulations come in? Will need to crawl out to the pylon at less than 5 knots. So much for the flat water. It has me worried.![]()

Surprised by the lack of discussion on the windsurf forum on the impact at our beaches. Lots more on the Kiters forum, but it will impact on them more. Hampton will lose half the beach they currently use.
Have a look at these two links. The first one is the map of P.P Bay and all the restricted areas that will be phased in, starting next year. It will stop us catching waves within 200m of shore at most places and 500m off shore at Rye, Rosebud area.
There are some designated kite areas that will be ok to go flat out to the shore line.
Basically windsurfers will need to go 5 knts within 200m of the shore and then ok to go as fast as you want.
Kiters are expexted to body drag through the 200m, so we are better off than them.
hampton , between 2 groyne walls is a free for all zone. Up to 200m north of Hampton Life Saving Club is a NO GO zone.http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources/mresources/haveyoursay/zones/FinalRecommendationMaps_LowRes.pdf

Thought I had better start a new thread on this topic as it will impact on us all yet there has been little talk about it.
