Out
What's the format of this one?
Out and back, typically an upwind run to a marker near the beacon and then back to the beach near the breakwater. With a BBQ and beers to soak it all up afterwards.
It's ON!!!
This Sunday. We've secured the BIG boat again and the forecast is looking great. Come on down and get involved in one of the Victorian Windsurfing communities longest running events. Stick around afterwards for a BBQ, some drinks, presentations and giveaways.

The famous SHQ Breakwater to Beacon race is on again this Sunday 19th Jan 2014.
As usual the race concept is an open event for all competent windsurfers who can sail long distances. As per the event name, we sail from Sandringham Beach (Breakwater left of the Yacht Club), to a mark near Fawkner Beacon and back, about 18kms.
The actual race mark will be set on the day depending on the wind direction and will be outlined during the race briefing at 3pm sharp. Following the race we'll have a BBQ, presentations and giveaways and relive all the action from the day.
Schedule:
Registration will be at Sandringham beach from 1pm until 2:30pm
Briefing will be at 3pm near the registration desk
Race Start will be from beach left of breakwater and depending on the weather will be somewhere between 3:30pm and 4:30pm
BBQ in front of the the SBHQ Kiosk will be after the race.
Note:
- All race entrants must be a 2013-2014 Windsurfing Victoria member or a AWA registered member via one of the other state bodies or sub-bodies for insurance purposes. WV membership can be made on-live via www.wv.org.au or at the event during registration. WV membership details can be found on the WV website. For all current WV members, it is recommended to present your WV membership card during the registration to help with the registration processing time.
- All entrants must complete full entry form including liability waiver
- All entrants must wear a Personal Floatation Device during the race
- All entrants must sign off immediately after the race

Are Inverloch Windsurf Club members able to sail under windsurf Victorias guest membership or is that still off limits ? and we have to join WV

Insurance is a pain but unfortunately a fact of todays society. In order to participate in this event your name needs to be on the AWA list of registered members prior to the event. Our understanding is that this is not a list you can just join for a day (although you can join on the day).
Windsurf Victoria will be there to take registrations on the day and we will email the new members to AWA prior to the start of the event (hence no late entries after registrations close). It's not just about having insurance for yourself but about having insurance for event organisers. Although some people may have insurance through their own memberships you can be sure that should you make a claim on that policy your insurance issuer would make a counter claim against organisers and anyone else they can to recover their costs. We have investigated other options and at this point the only economical way that everyone is covered is by the event being a Windsurf Victoria event and all entrants being a member of AWA.
Forecast is looking great so hopefully see you all there on Sunday.
