Hi All Tassie Windsurfers,

With the AGM being held on Saturday 10th of March, the time has come to think about next season's Windsurfing Tasmania Office Bearers.

Nominations are required for the position of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Officer and all Committee Members.
Nominations will need someone to second them and nominees will need to accept their nomination.

The other office bearer positions will remain as they are unless the incumbent wishes to step down or we receive new nominations for any of these positions.

This is your chance to nominate an existing office bearer, someone new or even yourself.

Post your nominations on Seabreeze prior to the 9th of March so they can be collated prior to the AGM.

Nominated people do not have to be a current member as long as they intend to join next year.

This is a great chance for new people to get involved in the committee and promote Windsurfing.

Existing 2011/2012 Office Bearers are:

President - Anthony Houston
Secretary - Kaleb Smith
Treasurer - Geraldine Morehead
Public Officer - Ian Murray

Committee Members:
Ian Murray
Kaleb Smith
Anthony Fitzgerald
Steve Charles
Izaak Perkins
Damien Wallace
Anthony Perkins
Dave Morehead

Race Committee – Officer of the Day:
A. Perkins & I. Murray – Port Sorrell
S. Gordon & T. Fitzgerald - RYCT
R Carington Smith - PDYC
I.Johnson & J Van Ek - Stanley

AWA Representative - David Morehead
Web-Site Coordinator - David Andrew
Publicity Coordinator - Anthony Perkins(north) Dave Morehead(south)
Wave Sailing Coordinator - Kaleb Smith
Formula Windsurfing Representative - Steve Charles
Slalom/ Speed Representative - Anthony Perkins
Leven Yacht Club Representative - Ian Johnston
SBSC Representative - Position deleted

I would like to say a huge well done to everyone who has been involved with WT in the last 12 months. You guys have done an amazing effort and really put the club in a great position going into the future, fantastic work.
I would like to nominate Jez to be a committee member.

Regards Steve.

I'd like to nominate anthony to remain president.
He's down a great job.

I'll second Jez and bear for committee members.
Do they need to accept before we go any further?

And I'll happily continue in the roll of web coordinator.

Well done Steve,

Many thanks for your passion and efforts on the committee over the years and in running so well the dash for cash year after year.

We don't have life members in Windsurfing Tasmania I think but being on this committiee since inception in my view warrants it.

Cheers Russ

The office bearer positions don't necessarily need to or historically do change that much from year to year, which tends to keep some form of continuity. However there was a fairly big change last year, with new President, Secretary and Treasurer and a number of new committee members aimed to better represent sailors in the SE. Traditionally, we have kept the committee to around eight, which has worked pretty well when making decisions, as we usually run with a vote, that includes the President, Secretary and Treasurer having voting rights, and majority vote wins.

To get this moving a little quicker, I'd like to nominate all incumbents for their current positions. If an incumbant wants to step down and not accept the nomination then we look to fill those positions.

At the moment we have Steve Charles stepping down as a committee member, so this opens up that position. We have Ben Wilson nominated for a committee position and if another becomes available, we have Jeremy Stuart nominated. We also have Anthony Houston nominated as President and I'd like to second that nomination. So, if eveyone has been nominated as shown below, we need people to second these nominations and for nominees (once seconded) to accept. We could have one person second all of the single nominated positions below to really speed this up!!

The other positions are automatically retained, unless we have someone step down or someone put their hand up or be nominated. For example, if you think you could really get the publicity side of things moving, let us know!!

It might also be worth having a Learner Board Coordinator (North and South). They could oversee management of the learner boards and Learner Days?

Fos not on committiee I dont get past Bridgewater very much so it's better having Jez.

I will second Dave's email for:
"We could have one person second all of the single nominated positions below to really speed this up!!"

I think the team did a wonderful job last year, so go on dont step away from the light and give it one more year.

That reminds me I have beer at home for the winners of the GPS challange and I need to award it to the winners, could someone going up to Stanley kindly take it up and award to the winners for me. Then help them drink it...

Happy to run this fun comp again if people are keen

Thanks Russ, for seconding those positions. Anthony, noted you wish to step down. You too, like Steve, would have been on the committee for a long time, including many years as President, so it goes without saying what a huge effort you have put in to the sport over the years. Obviosuly, it's not the end, just a change and opportunity for new faces on the committee - such as Izaak!!! Also just noticed that Steve had nominated Jez, so have adjusted accordingly. I'll accept my position on the committee!

Kaleb, have indicated you're stepping down from acting Secretary. Geri is also stepping down as Treasurer. These are the two key positions, in terms of WT administration, so if you think you have the skills, please put your hand up for one or both of these positions. The AWA has one person who is Secretary and Treasurer and he does a great job filling both positions. So, revised as follows:

President - Anthony Houston (Nominated by FoS, Seconded by Dave)
Secretary -
Treasurer -
Public Officer - Ian Murray (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ)

Committee Members:
Ian Murray (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ)
Kaleb Smith (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ)
Anthony Fitzgerald (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ)
Izaak Perkins (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ)
Damien Wallace (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ, Accepted by Damo)
Dave Morehead (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ, Accepted by Dave)
Jeremy Stuart (Nominated by Steve, Seconded by FoS)
Ben Wilson (Nominated by Ant, Seconded by Dave)

Dave M I'd like to nominate you as treasurer, you did a great job for Geri this year and have the experince which is a great asset

I'm happy to keep going as president, it's been a bit of fun over the last year with a terrific committee. Certainly any issues that are raised are resolved pretty quickly with a few emails.

I'm also happy to help Damien with the Learner Boards and the Learner days in the south.
Be good to get someone in the north to look after the boards up there.
Al Cook does a great job with the Learner days on the Tamar so we have that covered.

Kaleb, thanks for stepping in as secretary after Richard left the state.
Kaleb has stepped down so we have the position of secretary to fill if anyone is keen

Muzza, have taken you off the committee, which will allow Jordan to fill your position if he accepts, as I will second that nomination. I'm happy to accept the position of Treasurer if someone will second it, this will free up another position on the committee for someone to be nominated for if we want to fill the full eight positions available. Positions locked in are shown in BOLD:

President - Anthony Houston (Nominated by FoS, Seconded by Dave, Accepted by Ant)
Secretary -
Treasurer - Dave Morehead (Nominated by Ant, Accepted by Dave)
Public Officer - Ian Murray (Nominated by Dave, Seconded by Russ, Accepted by Muzza)

It would be good to have someone else in the Lauceston/Tamar region on the committee as we have only one rep from there.
Ben have you got any suggestions?

We still have the secretary role to fill, Dave I think has offered to do that as well as treasurer but be good for someone else to fill it if we can. This is not a big role as we usually share the load.....and the love.....Jez what about you

i think it is fantastic to see such a response to the committee and office bearers of windsurf tasmania.
As it was not long ago that we thought it might fold and be no more.
i am excited by all the new people involved in wt and hold great expectation as to where it can go.
we have a duty to carry on this great sport and develop it in tassie and strive to grow and encourage others to give it a go.
