There is a pretty good chance Wavesailing #1 will be held on Saturday 15 September. I realise that many of you probably haven't done much sailing over the winter and this will be more of a chance to hang at the beach and socialize while discussing that time you bailed from that huge unintentional back loop. Regardless ,you will get a score on the day even if you only sail a few metres out and back.

At this stage I would say that there is a %90 percent chance that the event will occur at Bell Buoy but naturally the final call will be made later in the week as the forecast changes.

Membership renewals will be taken at the beach but anyone with the ability to sort it out online beforehand will get a free cupcake on the day.

Fingers crossed. Probably a bit of swell with it too

I will send out email renewal info to past members tonight or tomorrow for those who want a cupcake.

At this stage we are planning an 11am briefing on Saturday (15/9/18) morning, Bellbuoy Beach is the most likely location.

Bellbuoy is about 15 minutes drive past Georgetown, for those who may not have been there before.

Alan will make final call.

I wanted to get something semi-formal up here tonight so all of youse can make plans.

If people travelling from Hobart want a place to stay on Friday night in Launceston, let me know.

Ok so its a bit of a spring pattern tomorrow so conditions might bounce around a little bit...as usual but I think the 11 am briefing is ok.

Before I make the big drive up, do you think it will be too windy?

The forecast is looking better now than it did last night with a peak of 35 knots which is sailable. We also have the option of moving to east beach which is usually 5 to 10 knots lighter in a westerly so I think it will be OK.

Looks like it should be a great day with slightly downgraded forecast...
The beauty of Bell Buoy in the big conditions is that the waves are breaking of the point, so there is no need to come all the way in to the beach every run and go out through the beach break...

Bellbuoy is a randomised mess at the moment, courtesy of that northerly yesterday.

East is much more organised, and gets my vote.

I agree with your suggestion Clarence.

There are several other advantages with East -
- It has sand
- it has toilets
- shops are close
- coffee is close
And there is less 'home' advantage (except for Cookie / Gil)
