There has been a shortage of westerlies this spring so even a brief fast moving front is enough to get the crew out to the beach for a session. These fast moving fronts don't tend to generate much swell and can be very unpredictable. I arrived at Bell buoy around 5.30 and it looked to be around twenty knots and overcast but greeny was planning with a 4m out the back and Geoff mentioned that he had been changing sails faster than Monica Lewinsky changed dresses. I rigged a 4.5 but really a 3.5 or a 5.7 would have been useful too. Occasionally the wind and waves coordinated and there were some good moments to be on the water, but there were also moments when it was 40knots and the rain was really stinging my face. Luka hung around and took a few photos for me and then got back on the water. Despite the conditions I still managed to smack a few lips (as hard as you smack a red headed step child ( I heard someone say this in the CBD the other day and thought " how Aussi is that") .
Not that Aussi at all as it happens. It seems like the phrase could date back to when the Vikings were wandering around Europe spreading the love of a wandering bohemian lifestyle and yet some of the up tight Brits were a little angry when their unmarried daughters bore fair headed children.
There is a red theme here....in case you missed it....
