Weather SituationStrong winds continue across Tasmania with a west to southwesterly airstream persisting over the state, strengthening this morning as a cold front passes to the south then beginning to ease this evening.DAMAGING WEST TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS around 60 km/h with peak gusts up to 110 km/h are forecast for all of Tasmania, with winds expected to increase to 70 km/h with gusts to 120 km/h across the southern half of Tasmania this morning. Winds begin to ease across the state early this evening.In the last 6 hours, the strongest recorded gusts were 135 km/h at Maatsuyker Island and 113 km/h at Cape Grim. Hobart also had a gust of 85 km/h at Hobart.

A big week with an awful lot of not very much... Blowing a gale and no one sailing. I hate to see good wind go to waste.

Yep, a bloody big storm that one only managed one afternoon either to strong or to cold (7c)until it eased yesterday and surprisingly warmed up (15c) as the 60 knot gusts dropped to about 45 at 3pm .Damo and myself then had a tricky sail with crazy bomb sets arriving when they liked.Yesterday proved that you definitely
need a 3.3m in the quiver in Tassie ,even if you weigh 85+Kgs, 3 hours of steadish 50 to 60 knots and 3/4 mast swell went to waste

Excellent photos Pete makes it look calmer than it was. The videos I took on the phone were not worth posting, pity did not get a shot of Damo doing that loop.

I think the guys who were dry and warmish were gasbaging at the time of the loop instead of looking thru the lens - as clean a loop as I have seen.

He does them of 2 inch chop at dorans as well
