Come along to a FREE Learn to Windsurf/Fun Day

SATURDAY 30th November 12noon to 4pm.

The location will be Dorans Road Lauderdale or Cremorne Lagoon (Honeywood drive). The location depends on the wind direction on the day so keep an eye out on this forum for an update closer to the day.

If you are keen to give windsurfing a crack or have family and friends that are keen, come along and meet the local sailors who will be there to help you get started on the windsurfers provided by the club.

It's also a chance to come and watch the local windsurfers in action, check out some of the gear, and talk to us about how and where to purchase new and second hand windsurfers. You'll pretty much find out all you need to know to get started.

All you need do is turn up on the day with a wetsuit, wetsuits boots and a lifejacket

We'll have the BBQ running with a few snags and soft drinks so come along and join in the fun.

If you need any more information or can help on the day please contact Damien (0409854754) or Ant (0417577884) or just post on the forum.

If the weather forecast is not suitable for beginners on the day (wind too strong) then we will change the day to Sunday. Keep watching this forum for more information or changes that may happen.

Relic's ready and willing to reach back into the memory file of longboard techniques and instruct the learners. Well have em flare gybing, backsailing, piruetting, boom hanin' and railriding in no time. Although I'm not sure how one of those "Fatty Boards" would railride!
We might even be able to have instant video replay for tuition.

A Great spot for learning, we will have eight club boards and a few more so plenty of gear for all learners, all for free!!!
Dont forget to bring booties ( oyster shell protection) and wetsuit.
DRINKS AND BBQ Snags will be available so bring your coins.

Forecast still looks good for Cremorne Lagoon (Honeywood Drive) should be ideal for beginners and enough wind for all levels of sailing

Saturday 30 November
Winds: Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots tending southerly 10 to 15 knots during the day
max 18 degrees no rain

For people who haven't been to the lagoon before check the Spotguide link below for directions.

www.thespotguide.com.au/TAS/index.html

Look for the 'windsurfing' sign at the turnoff to Honeywood drive then keep driving till you see another sign to the spot.
If you get lost ring Damo (0409 854754) or Ant (0417 577884)

Jez is bringing the barbie down for the snags

BUT KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THIS FORUM JUST IN CASE THE WIND SWINGS AND WE MOVE TO DORANS

And DON"T forget to bring booties

A big "well done" to organisers and instructors today. Was an awesome sight seeing so many learners out on the water, and from what I could see they all had smiles on their dials. Perfect weather for it too.

Heaps of fun and well done to everyone especially Mioke the Scotsman who we found out is an instructor and pretty awesome effort by the first timers.
Pretty specky when I counted 20 sails on the pond at one time.

What a day!!.perfect conditions for the learners. The pond was packed.
More girls than guys on the boards for a change and some goods sailors amongst them too!!
It definatley helped having all the clubs boards ( northern boards), we needed them.
Thanks everyone who helped out including Mike n Ant. and all other instructors, the rigging crew, Rebecca on the bbq, Morgan the cashier and 'Ping' the dog.

Great arvo

Got there later on but everyone seemed to be having a blast. Well organised and great vibe.

Thanks Caleb (Curls) for the lesson and end of session refreshment and to Jez for some pointers. Looking forward to getting a setup sometime soon so I can get a bit more serious with it.

Cheers Cam
