Hi there

This is a quick message to introduce myself to the sea-breeze windsurfing community. My name is Loz, some may have already seen windsurfing me at lauderdale, or sinking at long beach by lack of wind ! I use to windsurf a bit when I was living in france, and since I've been living in hobart for more than 2 years, I thought it would so much fun to get back into it.

So i got all my gear recently and enjoyed it a lot so far. Had a really good afterwork session last tuesday at lauderdale. But as it's pretty much the only spot I know, I went back there on sunday after lunch. The wind observation was at this time SW but when I arrived, it was actually SE, miserable, and low tide ( and I don't have a fancy phone to check the direction in real time !).

I was wondering where you guys go depending of the wind direction. I might see you around this week on wednesday arvo as it's suppose to be pretty strong ;)

cheers
Loz

Hi Loz, Welcome back to windsurfing. Sunday we sailed at pipeclay lagoon, Cremorne just a couple of kilomiters past Lauderdale [Dorans Rd] The wind was the perfect direction down there. Any of the local sailors will give you directions to the best spots. Most of them are prety ugly but they are a friendly bunch.
Cheers.

awesome bigbear, it's the best match with this community then.my favorite pick up line on a friday night is "you're ugly, I'm ugly, that's perfect".

I guess cremore is the best for south south. Worth to go to clifton or 7mile with similar conditions?

cheers

Loz, Bigbear is the only ugly one the rest are pretty good lookin dudes....well might be exaggerating just a touch.

Dorans Rd, flat to choppy, can be sailed NW to SW
Cremorne Lagoon (Honeywood Drive) flat water, southerlies, seabreezes and northlies
Clifton bump and jump in small waves same wind as the lagoon
Sandpits onshore wave and jumping in a SW wind
Sandy Bay southerlies, seabreezes and northerlies
Cremorne front beach, northerlies
Goats cross onshore wave riding in NE winds
Marion Bay flat water in lagoon, jump and bump on front beach, NE winds
The most popular spots would be Dorans and Cremorne lagoon because of consistant winds

Hope that helps
Get a few phone numbers of the guys when you see them, we usually scout around and text each other

Hi Loz, welcome aboard!! Notice you've become a member of Windsurfing Tasmania as well, which is great to see. Will no doubt catch up down the beach some time.

Hello Loz
Damien here, sorry i missed the call on Sunday.
Adding to Ants list.
Seven mile beach can be sailed, we usually only get a couple of sails there a year. It has to be south /south west and really windy with some swell running. Great for jumping then, and getting cruched!.
Not worth looking at in normal seabreeze or southerly ( better at clifton or lagoon).
Another beach that is good for jumping and sometimes cross shore riding is Carlton/park. This needs westerlies/sw to n/w. Can be a bit of a hit and miss to catch the wind--- if its 30 knots at Dorans and there is swell then it is worth a look.
Sandy bay is definately worth a look with summer seabreezes ( especially as you live close), sometimes the seabreeze can be a stronger there than down this way.
CHEERS Damien
