Well could have sailed but blowing on shore and really close chop in 30+ knots = not that enjoyable on slalom kit! Ka's would have stood up not sure about s..

I got there at 6am and had a little nap in the car as it looked rather unappealing. Rigged a 5.8m and headed out just as Jeremy & Russ got there. Unfortunately the wind had gone up about 5 knots whilst I was rigging so I got belted but did manage to sail back to the car park (okay, there was some body dragging involved ).

Rigged a 4.7 and then had an absolute blast. The waves were smooth and it was a fun ride. Unfortunately I had to be back in Hobart by 9am so only got about twenty minutes of sailing in. A pretty poor driving/sailing ratio :-(.

The new board (Isonic 94) is brilliant, way easier to sail. I can't wait to see how fast I can take it in good conditions.

I'm bad at judging wind, but I reckon it was about 30 knots gusting to 35 with some lulls at 25knots. I could hold on to the 5.8, the waterstarts were just a bit exhausting. The 4.7 was powered up in the gusts and just enough to get planing in the lulls.

sitting here in the rain a few hours ago, now it's sunny and breezy, and i notice marion is 20 kt N, crazy 40 knots in the morning! says swinging offshore NW to W again but i'm going to wander out there, maybe carlton on the way back if it does go W.

moving from FNQ to sail at south coast NSW i thought the weather was more dynamic, but down here it's hour by hour?!
