Looking for tips on fun boards & gear I'm about 100 kg windsurfed befour but out of touch these days don't want to spend to much till I get better cheers

Where abouts are you located?, Al from Planet surf in the North is a great start and Damian Wallace in the south. These guys usually have or know where to find some gear.

As for what board I believe you will benifit greatly from aquiring a semi modern board for your re entry to windsurfing. Whilst older boards are cheap the newer designs make windsurfing so much easier and exhilerating.
I would reccomend a board of at least 150L, possibly a bit more. The Funster and x-cite rides as well as the rio's are all boards that will be forgiving in the initial stages as well as exhilerating as you progress allowing you to keep the board for some time before downsizing...
Feb 9th and 10th is the Northern Learn to windsurf days at Low Head, there will be plenty of boards to try out with instruction available... be great to see you there!

Ben is right keep away from the old gear, anything older than 5 years should be hung up on the wall or thrown on the tip. Pretty easy to pick really cheap old gear but don't be tempted. Al will set you on the right path.
I have a Bombora Capricorn on the mainland you can have, if you are happy to pay for freight. I also have a late 1980s Mistral Maui under my house (Launceston) in good order which you can take and try to see if you like it. The Maui is similar in size and volume to the Capricorn, but a generally higher quality package all round. If you like it you can have it for $100 or so.
As previous posters have stated try one of the newer kits and you will be amazed. The learn to windsurf days are a perfect opportunity to try out some of the boards and rigs now available, and it is a pretty friendly crowd to boot.
I am a big fan of older gear if it makes sailing fun (my main kit is an early 1990s F2 lightning). However, apart from a few rare exceptions I agree that a lot of the older gear (especially plastic) is not worth the hassle unless you just want to putt around in 5-8 knots occasionally.
