Simulator is ready to go. A valuable aid in teaching First steps. I'm happy to make it available to WT learner days.
It's a bit slow to plane though

I didn't explain clearly hoe the simulator works for thse wo don't know. It isn't just a platform;
it is a dynamic simulator...a type of turntable. A board is strapped to it. The student can get the sensation of what happens when moving the centre of effort with the sail easily under close instruction.The device allows the student to gain an immediate understanding of the way a sailboard functions.
It also negates the need to tie up a board that is usually used as a "corpse" simulator with the fin removed to land demonstrate. It frees up a board which could otherwise be on the water. It also reduces the risk of damage to the board using the "corpse" method.

Pretty ingenious. You have got to show everyone a video of it in use. That'll be good to demonstrate it's use

good to see the dog is focused too

I haven't seen one of these since last century.

Does it have much resistance in the turntable to stop it rotating too quickly as the sail is moved?

Yep. It's got a polyethylene bush to give resistance. The tighter the not the more resistance. It's Eva Hollyman's design.

Hi Relic,

Did you use new or old golf balls?

I might make one of these over summer holidays if I can get hold of some old golf balls.
