Great video Isaak,
I've been contemplating buying property in Tasmania but have been putting it off as unsure as to whether or not I'd enjoy sailing dodging through the icebergs in fear of polar bear attack (does everyone down there carry a magnum like they do in Alaska?). Your video makes the scene down there seem very appealing, what places do people sail, is there anywhere for a bit of wave sailing or is it mainly fast and flat??
Hey Chilla, Basically the same temps as Victoria, so i would'nt be worried. The whole state is covered with many many many wave spots and flat water. With windsurfers spread all over the state. So all ways someone to show the way. Where are you looking at buying??
Hello Chilla, I came from QLD a couple of years ago and haven't found it too cold at all. I sail all year round and use a 5mm wetsuit in winter. Having said that I live in the North-East which is a bit warmer than the rest, but all round the state they sail all year.
Hey Chilla,
A few ligaments and stuff have meant our top wave sailors started doing the speed/GPS/Slalom thing, but they are healling now so more wave events should be happening soon.
Chilla, the best wave sailing is Marrawah on the west coast and the best speed is Stanley and Hawley on the north coast so if you can score a job up there you're laughing.
Obviously us blokes in the south is more sophiscated and far better sailors so we'd also welcome you down here ![]()
