Hello
the much anticipated event is on this weekend.
Encourage everyone to come along for a social gathing and sail.

The event includes gps, slalom and freesailing.
At the moment the winds are not looking that strong, with most likely seabreezes.
Even though it is the King of dorans it might have to be held on Cremorne lagoon.
As seabreezes are likely we will meet at 1pm Saturday ( if it looks like strong winds earlier then 11am).
As this is fun event membership to windsurfing Tasmania is not necessary.

Membership forms will be available for those wishing to join.

Updates will be posted here closer to the weekend

Cheers Damien

If the event is held at Cremorne please drive slowly into the area where we all park, I'm sure everyone does but we don't want to upset the residents.

I would prefer to sail at dorans despite wind conditions because i have had trouble with some of the bumpy terrain in the parking area, its not good for the suspension on the jaguar.

Looks like we'll be relying on a seabreeze - will the WT BBQ make an appearance?
"King of the Pond" sounds better than "King of Doran's" anyway.

If it is at the pond, please remember to drive in slowly and try not to piss off the residents otherwise the event will be as big a success as it should be.

Cheers Russ

update for King of Dorans/Pond

After consulting with my weatherman (Kaleb) it has been decided to hold onto the 1pm time. Seabreeze cremorne, frontal dorans
A bit hard to predict exactly what the wind is going to do for us.

I might have to make a sacrifice for the wind gods at Dorans on Friday evening![}:)]

cheers Damien

Bit of a downer,
no results from yesterday. Thanks everyone for turning up and giving it a go, perhaps can be run in a less formal nature if it blows today.
If the wind comes in we will run the event where the most sailors gather. We will call it the 'king of .......'
Just turn on your gps and get the best speed and freesailors will be judged by others on the water.
Oh yeh and dont wait for me , just do it man!!!
cheers

Looks SE at the moment, who knows if it warms up enough that might help a seabreeze happening. Otherwise I might go and try and catch some salmon at the lagoon entrance at low tide. Have there been many around lately?

Yeh Easties right, light se at the moment and the cloud is burning off pretty quick. Alot more chance of a seabreeze today, fingers crossed. It's supposed to tuen NE hopefully that will either stay away and let it pick up from SE or push in and blow enough for Goats. Lots of wishful thinking!

Heh Heh Heh. You blokes should of been up here yesterday. 10-20 knot northwesters averaging over 15. Iceman was cruising on the 140l with the 7m sail. Even found a nice spot at low tide that was behind a little sand bar.

Snake river going off, pity the event couldn't have been held here, only trouble being the catering and no facilities for a nice cup of tea and scones, still i'll put up with the 35knot south northerly.

Yep the NE won in the end. Came in at Goats about 4.30, I went and had a look but it was a bit flukey and low tide with solid 3 foot sets. I ended up going up to Dorans (I had to take dvd back to shop) and having a bit of a blast around in12-15 knots. When I came home Goats was and still is 25 knots, apparently 15 minutes after I left it picked up to that strength, Bugger!
Ah well it looks like I might of won 'King of Dorans' will post on GPS Team Challenge shortly.

Have a look at Iron Pot to see what the wind did, remember it blows 20-30 minutes earlier at Goats than Iron Pot.

Sorry you guys didn't get the wind over the weekend, I feel kinda responsible cos my daughter said she didn't want any wind cos it would bugger up her wedding, so being a god (daughter fearing man) I had to ask Hughy to keep it calm. Sooo soooorry
