Made the trip to Henty on the 25th Feb and yet again got skunked. Forecast WNW actual NNW swung to NW.
The run looks awesome the first half (Northern end) the sand looks about 2 met. high and out away from the big dune (pic 6)
This was the first time we have been able to drive down the Eastern side past the big dunes and park on the bottom part of the run
We stayed until dark waiting for the wind to swing. It never did and when I got home (fairly late) about 11.15 pm I started to tell Lynda why we were late and she said "I don't want to know your just stupid" No sense of humour some people.
The last pic the red line is 2.2km long

Cookie checking the wind

Driving past the big dune

Looking back up the run is much straighter than I remember

below: Looking out to sea about 300 met. from the southern end of the run

Oohh the serenity

New sandbank formed in the middle in the first section before the big dune

I understand Johno.
I'm probably one of the few females in Tas that understands the needs and dedications of windsurfers...funny that, I wonder why
Looking forward to one day giving Henty a go

Just to be clear I don't think GPS sailors are stupid, but in fact the reverse. It always amazes me when I read the Gps forum how technical the sport is and how willing all the participants are to share their knowledge. It represents a kind of collective genius that fully utilizes the 'net. I put this down to the nature of speed sailing. That with enough experience almost anyone could achieve 40 knot, a crazy speed on a windsurfer. In wavesailing however it seems like only a few will ever achieve at the upper skill level and unless you have developed those skills at a young age then your chances of getting there are pretty slim. This in my opinion is why discussion on the wavesailing page is pretty minimal. There is not much to be gained by discussing how to do a "crazy Pete" you have just got to get out there on the water and smash yourself around a bit, or not (if you are an aged sensible person like myself).

And if you had any doubts about the collective genius of GPS sailing check out the vid of how GPS location works.

or if you are a wave sailor .....here is a Madagascar cartoon

Hi Laurie. Any chance we can get Al Planet banned from posting video clips, he keeps clogging up the server.
