Hi Guys, as you maybe aware I'm revamping the official website.
What I would like is the name of the place you go and the Google maps link, and I'll place this on the site so noobs can come and have a look at what we're doin.
I know most of the south arm ones, but even marion bay near the old cemetry I'm not sure of.

quick tute on how to use google maps
in the address bar type maps.google.com.au
in the search type in the location ie dorans road, lauderdale
Move the map until it shows the bes description
then in the top right there is a link button click on this and copy the contents on the top line
should look like this

Fos, check out the nomadic site, John set up a great Locations tab with most of the spots around tassie, just need to add some of the local spots like dorans, Mortimer, Cremorne Lagoon, Sandy Bay, Lindisfane bay, Hawley, Marion bay (lagoon and Boneyard), some of the spots on the Tamar, Henty River.

Hi Everyone,
I've been windsurfing on and off for a few years in Hobart and am keen to get into it a lot more this summer!
Saw the start of this post and thought that was exactly what I'm looking for, except it doesn't seem to have gone very far yet...
Would anybody mind giving a brief outline of the best locations for general sailing in the different winds that we get around southern Tas?

like Steve says it depends on what you do.
If it's just some flatwater blasting then westerlies see us at Dorans Road (Lauderdale)
Sea breeze will see us relocate to the cremorne lagoon (go past cremorne turn off and take the next one, then left and left, trust me.)

I'm still at a fairly basic level of jump on, go straight then come back again... 
So normally i just head off nutgrove and bash through a few waves. Sometimes off Lindisfarne and have been down to Dorans a couple of times now.
I'm guessing that the Cremorne lagoon might be a little less bumpy during a good sea breeze though than the Derwent? Do you head to Dorans when it is blowing anywhere from Northerly to Westerly?

Dorans is ok from NW to SW. Northerly is no good.
Cremorne lagoon is flat water and safe in S and SE sea breezes.

Henty River- Strahan-speed sailing from NW-SW, most of the time you dont have to worry about tides.this spot changes all the time so Google maps never keeps up with how in looks, length all ways changes due to the water flow.

Port Sorell-speed sailing low tide NW-SW-High tide you can sail every direction if your keen. Easterly winds bring bit over boom height waves.

Stanley- west inlet/east inlet-speed sailing low tide, SSW-SW and NNW speed runs in western inlet.East inlet, Low tide or better half tide from NNE,NE (best) to SW runs.can sail both on high but chop gets up.

Bakers Beach-great for wave sailing near Port Sorell about a 25min drive any tide from S-SW even great on NE-E winds.
