Hi guys, there is a couple of guys interested in some course racing at PDYC. Currently we have a bic techno and an RSX (me) and would like to see who may be interested in joining in. Racing is around fixed marks, I understand Deviot is beginning to be active in this area also, so even a cooperation between the clubs may be a possibility?
Put your comments up and let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Sam
G'day Sam,
Yep I reckon if there is wind and a race on, then you'll get 4 or 5 of us turn up ;-)
Happy to help out if you want to do a demo day as well first for club members - spur some interest - the YC's are certainly going great guns in the north.
Cheers
johnny
Sam I presume you're up to speed with racing at RYCT I think there's about 6guys there into Bic techno racing on the Derwent, mainland and overseas.
Might be worth teaming up with them I reckon they'd be keen.

Is that on Saturday or Sunday?
Great stuff Sam..I have asked Deviot to add 4 course races to their calendar for next season and they are very keen so it looks like this will happen. There are a few of us that have older course boards that we have been racing at Deviot occasionally but would be good to get some regular racing happening. I think that Leven are also keen. If PD are also keen that would be great. We have had up to 5 sailboards racing at Deviot at times. Lets make it happen...course racing was huge though the 90's and heaps of fun.....Maybe we should have a get together before next season and do some planning...RYCT has it sorted...maybe get some info from Jock Calvert whom has been very successful with Techno and Rsx ........Paul Tenteye 0417326733
Sounds great - I've got a windsurfer one design, but would like something a bit quicker in about
10 - 15 kts. What does everyone else sail on?
We have starboard phantom and rio, old school mistral and Tiga raceboards, ahd stealth black special project...whatever gets you around ;-)
Great to see course racing gaining interest around the country. Just in case.you didn't know charter boards for the RB Worlds have been made.available.to Australian Sailors.
For many a once in a lifetime opportunity to sail in a world championship. Would be great to see some representation from Tassie.
Any update on Deviot Sailing Club program Rustbucket???Also there are a handful to "R300" boards now in northern Tas (3x phantoms, 1x RSX).
Any chance of a day where we could have a joint event- then the Hobart Bic Technos can mix it up with the other short raceboards or vice-versa.
For those who don't know about R300 : www.raceboard.org/page0217v01.htm

Hey Clarence...nothing from Deviot yet but should be close..
They usually open the season at the end of September...the programme comes out a couple of week earlier.
Port Dalrymple Yacht Club course board racing update.
Our open day is October the 2nd. There is a sail past and racing this day. Sail past is around 1pm and racing there after. Structure for the season is generally every Sunday, starts after 1pm. For non members there is availability to race 3 days before a membership is required (due to YA regulations and insurance). Don't forget this allows for using full club facilities, wash down, grass rigging area, hot showers and parking. At least you will able to decide if you like our racing after 3 events. Come and be a part of it!
Thanks Sam
I posted the PDYC info on the Windsurfing Tasmania facebook page.
By all means keep the info coming regarding windsurf course racing.
With three starters already from PDYC it is likely to get a critical mass and build a bit of interest.

Great to hear this is building momentum. From at least 2006-2011 a fair few of us sailed the PDYC Blockbuster Weekend each year for the Formula Class. The club put on an excellent event, with professional racing and a great Sat evening BBQ. We'd camp onsite and were always made to feel very welcome. Be good to get up there again for a few more races.
Sounds great Sam..I'm keen to sail there...maybe we can put the blockbuster weekend on the WT calendar...From what I gather it will be the 4th and 5th of Feb 2017
We have 3 or 4 starters, bic techno, RSX, bombora South Pacific and maybe a Wally
What ever can get upwind bring it along!!!
Open day went well. 5 starters. 5-12kts of breeze. The course was good.
Thanks to Paul for coming along.
Next race is this Sunday. Boat start with windward leeward courses. See you there.
