Ok so it's that time of the year already. 2019 Australia Day Sandy Bay Regatta Association Dash for Cash which is on Sat 26th Jan. Start time is 3pm and briefing will be 2pm out the front of Prossors restaurant SBay. This year we are going to have 2 divisions. The normal slalom crew plus for the first time we will have a separate long board division for those boards with centre boards. The prize money will be split 50/50. We will decide on the day whether we do one start or two for the 2 fleets. Please bring a buoyancy vest if you have one but it's not compulsory. Entry fee $10 on the day.

Cheers Steve

There will also be some longboard racing this weekend down Sandy Bay way, for anyone who is keen.

With the Techno nationals on there will be lots of boards on the water, so come drag out your longboard and get ready for the big money on Australia Day.

If its a SE seabreeze this will most likely be the P bouy we will jibe around. Check out the sting ray at the end of the vid. Doing 24 knots in 12 knots of wind (FF 140, Warp 8.4 and Z45 fin).

Ok guys and gals its on today. Forecast is looking great with a SE seabreeze forecast to come in around 13 knots at 1pm and build up to 18 knots by 3pm. See you there at 2pm for the breifing and looking like a 3pm start. Should be the P buoy we go around.

Nice photos Paul thanks mate. So The 35th annual Dash for Cash was one of the best ever. Wind was spot on the forecast. Long boards started at 2.30pm and slalom boards at 2.45pm. Got windier on the way back for the slalom boards. Huge thanks to the Sandy Bay Regatta association for donating a massive $800 prize money. Congrats to Dave, Kaleb and Will (1st, 2nd 3rd) . Very close top 2. Congrats to Mat, Simon and Vietzy (1st, 2nd, 3rd). Will put up video footage of the race.

Great photos Relic, and top effort organising the event Steve and Sandy Bay Regatta Committee.

Good to see a few classic longboards on the water. Old mistrals coming out of the woodwork! Looks like Appleman and the "shed find" F2 may have a hidden calling for course racing one day.

Spewing. Clearly my enormous 6m wave sail and super fast freestyle board were so intimidating for Kaleb, that he told me the marker bouy on the other side of the river was at Blundstone area (300m downwind of the real mark). I'm certain I would have been a contender for first prize otherwise .......
On a more serious note, thanks firstly to Steve for the organisation of the event. And the the Sandy Bay committee for their support. And to the other competitors for the great social atmosphere.
And thanks for the photos as well.
