its a long way out, but the cast is starting to look like a persistent S to SE flow on the west coast for next weekend. this sort of pattern could be backed up with a early season southerly seabreeze for some classic Marra wave sailing.

im keen for a dash if it keeps looking good, hopefully we can get some even better conditions than the epic goats action on Sat

Sorry Nickpryde my pride has been badly damaged, I gave my word to my wife i would keep away from lighthouse til after Christmas, in her defense it's not because she won't let me off the leash but more because she was present when my cardiologist told me if i want to stay alive, grow up......buggered if i understood a word he said but prue apparantly did, so as much as it torments me I can only dream til January

got a great cross off sail in head high swell at nettleys. Gary "coleslaw" Cole was out there shredding it up in 25 kn.
i constantly wonder why beginner wavesailors view marrawah as too hard core to go... most of the time marrawah is gentle and has a longer wave period between waves, the waves are generally not heavy and there is no dumping shorebreak... unless you go out smacking huge lips at BOL with johnny potts that is. most days at greens a pretty small gentle and great for having a crack.

give me a call if you are heading down this summer

Nick, there's quite a few of us heading up 8th to 16th January, great if you could make it. There'll be a few guys that have never experienced a sail there.
What you say about marrawah is so right, most people are daunted because of all the exagerated myths we have developed over the years. It's true it can on occasions get pretty wild but most of time it is pretty tame. It'll be great to see some new faces up there this summer.
I posted on the Vic forum and some of the guys are coming down from the north island.
Glad to hear you had a good sail at Nettleys, did you get any photos?

Gary was out???? From that I can discern that there was very little swell(sorry Gary) and most probably just a fun little sesh in the dribblers of Nettley where the wind drops out and the waves crumble to mush. No Pics=No sail!!!!!! That's the new Rule Pricknyde. No evidence, no sail.
Actually you've missed the silent 'd' in your name just like you have from your place of residence. DNile PrickDnyde hehehehhahahah!!!!!! Wanker!

If I'm not working and can get away I'd like to go to Marawah but need some info. I'll probably be camping and need to know where you go and if you have to book etc Is this how most of you stay? Any info would be helpful.

There is a camping ground at Greens which is pretty nice and overlooks the beach. Has toilets and BBQ facilities. No need to book to stay there just turn up and set up camp.

Me and mrs fos will be camping there.
Tent and all.

It's the first time we've been camping together in our 10 years so it'll be interesting.

it is amazing how much the real experts can tell about the conditions at Marrawah on any given day, while in hobart with there head stuck up a horses ass!

as it happens there was a small but long period swell and the wind was super consistent (which usually makes for a good sail), it was also the warmest southerly wind i have ever felt at marrawah, so much so that there was even a couple of topless euros down on greens. i did get a couple of photos of that, but due to the explicit nature i cant post them here...sorry

Yeh! Yeh! and PrickNyde's stories just keep flowing! Small=knee high. Long period=every 20 minutes there was one knee high wave. Consistent wind=Prick Nyde never shut up and caused a light continual breeze to blow from the car park across Netley. The two topless Euros were Herman and Gunta a couple of 60 year old grey nomads playing frisbee in their boardshorts!
