I too just got back into sailing after a fair hiatus and moving countries/states. I easily or maybe luckily picked up a bit of gear in the buy/sell section here.
I've visited both stores, the stock was limited (By European standards, i.e. wall to wall gear) however it was midway through the season and both places mentioned they could get most things in in a couple of weeks give or take.
In a past life I was a committee member of the Northumbrian Windsurfing Club in the UK, this is back in '08, we were having the same conversations then re: dying sport, but we had around 50 active members. I'd say I've seen around 40 individual sailors between Boggy and Semaphore since , and that's before you count the Victor/Robe crew.
