Does anyone know weights of simmer tricera.

What size of the Simmer 3 batten Tricera, do you need the weight for?
I can most likely find out as I sold a few here / or I can ask the Simmer HQ

One a side note ..I recently decided light was best,,
Not simmer but another brand, i paid the price as the inbuilt mast pads are really thinned out, just check this if going for lightweight wavesails
Small waves and small shorebreak.. dents on deck.. . Just walking back up beach..On two occassions.
I know Simmer icon and blacktips are popular in tassie and built well with nice pads.

I just asked the question with the weight on the Tricera to a few customers that got the sails this year.
Hopefully there will be a post later :)

The Tricera are popular for the wind foilers wanting a light sail with max maneuverability.
The feedback I got is that they really enjoy them.

I also sold a few to some dedicated wave sailors (light weight sailors), that enjoy the light handling and wave riding in less than perfect wind.
I would say used for a more 'surf style' riding , where you mostly using the power of the board / wave, and the sails gets neutral. So it make sense to have the lighter 3 batten sail.

Did you consider this sail for wave sailing or foiling?

Its a lightwind option for my 10.5 year old son.

to use on a starboard flare and windsurfer one design. He likes doing freestyle sail tricks.

he is keen on the severne freek but I wanted to compare the simmer.

I recently bought two Simmer Tricera's 4.2 and 4.7.
Weights are 3060 and 3130 respectively (measured on digital kitchen scales all care no responsibility!)
I bought them predominantly for free ride foiling and have to say I couldn't be happier with them.
They have heaps of grunt are super lightweight in your hands and depower easily when required.
IMHO they are perfect for free ride foiling and am also looking forward to trying them in waves once the swell returns.

You should consider a special developed kid rig for your 10.5 year old?

Note that even if some other freestyle sails should be lighter, then they are developed with quite a 'high pull' in the sail (so it is easier load up and pop the board out of the water). This also translate to a bit more backhand pull and can fell 'heavier on the water'. Especially for a kid.

Also be aware of the boom cut out and the clew position might be to high for a kid.

There is a lot of good kid rigs out there from different brands.

Simmer Style is also coming with a few sizes especially developed for kids.
Lighter, lower boom cut out, lower clew, special short and lighter mast with the right softness
+ the kid boom is lighter with a reduced grip.

I had a 2.8 proto type here and they work and look great. I expect there will be a few bigger sizes as well.
I'm not sure when production is ready, but I can let you know when the word is out.

i saw the simmer youth sail on the SW junior facebook page. beautiful looking sail! it's a great thing that simmer have created something for the kids. without it there would be no future. Having small sails that function like adult sails has made a big difference for the kids i know learning windsurfing. Especially when the winds up. The learner sails just don't handle the conditions.

If i had my time again i would have gone straight to the pro kids rigs as you suggested. The start style rigs were good to get my son going but he outgrew them very quickly and they ended up holding him back.

where we are at currently is he's building a quiver of severne xs-3 sails. He has a 3m with a 2.5m on the way. When the 2020 sails are released I'll buy him a 3.6m as well. I can't fault the severnes, They produced a fantastic kids rig and have won my son over. He associates his progression with them, aspires to be like the pros using them and is made to feel special by the shop that sells them.

He's progressing pretty quickly and i've been toying with the idea of the next step being a 4m Severne freek. A couple of the local kids seem to be doing ok on 4m sails in light winds.

The tricera is advertised as being a lightweight sail and would work with my simmer gear (saving me the expense of another mast) i thought it worth looking into but i think the severne will win out this time. budgets being as they are i'll just borrow his gear when it;s howling
