First pics of the new 377L Phantom! First production board, first time on the "water". The new model will be available from late 2017 from the normal Starboard dealers.
Apparently the guys at Starboard have tweaked the existing design by moving the mast track back a bit, moved the centreboard forward a bit and made the batwings a bit wider.

Can someone who has a Phantom measure the Mast Track travel length please? (looking for a long track for a build project)

Great board and thanks for posting. I have sold my Equipe 1988. I am considering a replacement.

What is the price of a new 2018 Starboard Phantom 377L ?

Phantom looks great. But i bet it doesnt last 25+ years of sailing. Like the Equipe did. New isnt always best.

Daffy,
The Phantom 377 mast track is 77cm - top plate measurement. The actual recess that the track fits in is less than this. I can measure the actual recess dimensions if you want. The housing for the pedal is wider than the width of the track. The actual travel distance from forward to back is 56.5cm.

Note, that I'm not sure if the new 377L above has the same track dimensions...?

Also note that the new 377L has a volume of 333 litres - up on the previous model.Save

Gee that makes it much more than the 311 litres of the Exocet 380 RS Elite and the 298 litres of the 2017 Phantom 377L. I guess there may be good deals on secondhand prior year 377L's soon.

Hi Glenn, any changes to the 377? Have they gotten fatter as well?

Looks like the head of the centreboard has had a makeover, I have always thought it was too small/wrong shape

Could I ask, what size, type of sail and wind strength you guys sail these massive long boards ?. I've never sailed anything like this, must be a 2 person lift to the water though ?

No indication that the shape of the 377 has changed for the new season.

Nerdburger : The Phantom is a course racing board but is also good at general cruising. The class rules for raceboards dictate that maximum sailsize for racing is 9.5m for men and 8.5m for women. Raceboard sails are specific to the class and generally have a tight leach, compared to slalom/freeride sails, although in the windier conditions loose leached sails work well . Of course you can put bigger sails on them for non-racing activities. A Phantom weighs about 14-15 kg, which is reasonable for the volume. I've race the Phantom in winds from 2 knots to 30+ knots.

Thank you for the info, interesting as I've only sailed wave kit & free ride gear, 2 knots to 30 is a huge range, thanks

Hi Glenn, what is your estimate of the weight including the centreboard and with or without the fin?

A Phantom 377L - old model - 297 litres, with footstraps, centreboard, etc weighs about 16-17 kg new, so I expect the new 377L to be similar. I don't have any "official" weight specs. A Phantom 377 is about 1 kg or so lighter (at about 260 litres volume). Obviously with a board so big and complex there is a small production variation in weight from board to board.

How does it feel compared to the L17 model? Are the starboard centreboard and the 52cm Drake fin unchanged?

None in Australia yet! The production line in Thailand has just started for this model.
