SIZE SPECIFIC DESIGN: Thanks to three different, size-dependent concepts each sail size is individually matched to the wind strength. With 3 different luff sleeves with different materials to make this happen.

Battens are pre factory tensioned with a torque wrench and fixed with loctite. If you really need to change the tension or change a batten a firm turn with the North allen key will brake the seal.

I sailed my new 2018 warp 7.7 yesterday for the first time and yes it was spot on straight out of the bag, no battens needing adjustment, much to my surprise. Lucky because I didn't read the sticker until after!!!

so they've invented material that doesn't stretch now?

Downhaul to the trim guide on the second panel and you can't go wrong.

I had trouble getting the mast into the sleeve. It's much more curved at the top of the sail than the other sizes. It also has a pin for the top of the mast which none of the other sizes has. The luff setting of 415+/-1 seems incorrect. At 16cm on the extension (Power XT), I was a good distance off when I was already beyond the VTS dot. I rerigged at 412cm and that was still too much. Afterwards, I measured the luff and it looks like the max is in fact 411.

All of my 2017 and 2018 warps don't get to full spec downhaul (1-3cm short) before the wrinkles hit the Max Wind decal. 100% north platinum mast. Maybe they will stretch with time but I don't keep them long enough to know. I always rig relative to the Max wind decal, and not to the luff spec.

I also rig to the VTS settings. I found the previous Warps all rigged to within 1cm of the recommended settings. They stretched a little over time but not much. I've rigged the 2018 7.0 and that was spot on. The 2018 5.4 is WAY away from the recommended setting for me.

Just make sure the mast is right into the head cap. I found my F2018 7.7 and 8.4 were a little tight and didn't go all the way in on first rigging due to the angle of cap from factory. This put my settings way off.

The 4.7 and the 5.4 use the same panel layout, luff sleeve and head pin ( this was used on all North Sails up until 2016, it is still used on the small high wind sails) There are three different size-dependent concepts, each sail size is individually matched to the wind strength. Because the 4.7 and 5.4 are high wind sails which use more down haul compared to the other sizes the luff material will stretch a little more, all part of the design. You will get closer to the 415cm setting after 3-4 outings. These markings are after all are just guide lines to get you out on the water as soon as possible with little fuss..
Here is my sail also rigged at 412cm as it has not been on the water as yet.

What weights are the larger sails? 7.8 8.6 9.6 or equilivent size.

Interesting with the factory tensioning of the battens according to the torque specs. It would be great to know the optimum torque values for each batten to get the best sail trim using a torque wrench. I know the 2018 warps are pre-tensioned, but the material might stretch a bit over time and it would be great as guidelines for older versions like the 2017 warps I am using. Can anybody help with the optimum torque values?

Rigged on 12cm of ext and seems spot on. 6.2 used twice and both sails feel super fast and really well balanced. They are going to be speed weapons for sure.

I will be hitting the water again finally after 8 months injury this weekend and i have 3 of the new warps to try out. Its just great to know you dont have to mess with the batten tension, plus they are super easy to use and will rotate like a wave sail. downhaul a bit below max and you know what your getting into and its pretty damn sweet.

YES THE MATERIAL STRETCHES THE CLEAR **** PARTICULARLY MORE. Every sail i get new always stretches. i take them out overpowered and takes a good 30 to 60 minutes sailing to get them fairly well stretched to their limits. IM PRETTY SURE THEY HAVE ALLOWED FOR THIS.

North sails are amazing for rigging and this just adds another element to that. The on water use has been made super easy too keep up the good work developers

Do you think 5.4 would be too small on the 99? don't know why they dropped sizes 5.7/6 is ideal

I am sure the 5.4 will work ok with the 98/99. The best 2 sizes would be the 7.0 and 6.2. The 5.4 does seem to need a lot of wind to get it wound up.

I never really used my 5.7 much, I would nilly always go from my 6.3 straight to my 5.2.
5.4 on the 99 will be fine.

Mate has the new 6.2, lets say rotation was non existent, maybe the battens were over tensioned from factory?, (rigged on platinum mast), will the sail stretch a little?

I have the ext set on 26cm with about a 2cm gap. The rotation on my 6.2, 7.0 and 7.7 is very good. For some reason though the 5.4 rotation is even better.......

That's what I thought my 6.3 2016 is ok but the 2017 -7m is sensational
