If we look at bend curve history in last 10 years Neilpryde allways made flex/soft masts(race sails).
Do they allways use flex top philosophy or they switch top felx top when Bjorn leave NP?

You can see that severne use very hard top race mast ,obviously hard top is more fits to Bjorn style..

I think all race sails develope around their best rider,so NP last 10years is developed aorund AA ,and his feedback is most important..
Just like reflex was developed around Bjorns requirements..etc

That is an old chart ... actually don't think it matters whether they are flex top or hard top as long as the sail is designed for it. All the sails are very good & in a single event the guy with the hard top(Severne, Point-7, Avanti etc...) will dominate one heat, & another heat the guy with Flex top(Pryde, Challenger etc) then the next will be a constant curve (North/Duotone) etc... So there is NO ideal bend curve IMHO, just different philosophy's & all the Sailmakers think theirs is best. But the sheer fact that there are all sails performing well with different curves proves them wrong. They need to all get together & finally standardize... but I highly doubt it will ever happen.

there are only a few on the left of CC and the same on the right
let's hope eventually they all meet in the middle

Avanti RDM is constant curve. Avanti sails rig perfectly on Severne masts.

I've been sailing with NP Evo's the last 8 seasons. The Dutch NP distributor told me Pryde switched to progressive bend curves and a different manufacturing process a couple of years ago. What that means is that the shorter SDM and RDM masts are the most flextop and the longer you go the SDM race masts tend to be more CC ending up close to CC for the longest masts.

I've noticed that the low to midrange performance from the Evo6 onwards was clearly less with the older X9 masts. From my understanding Pryde had problems with the longer flextop masts. With clear difference in performance with masts from the same batch. We rigged 2 Evo6 7.8's with a couple of X9's and FLX100 masts. With the FLX's the loose leach was the same no matter which FLX or sail we used. The X9's showed different loose leaches. Some were close to the FLX's and some were off quite a bit.

If I remember correct the X9's with the white stickers ('10 and '11) were closest to the FLX's compared to the X9's with the gray stickers and the ones with the white and gold lettering.
