I have heard that the build quality of Ezzy sails has dropped in recent years.
I am thinking of buying one and this concerns me.
I have heard of guys changing to other brands because their Ezzys were not lasting.
For example a 1 year old sail looking like it was a 3 year old sail.
I'd like to know how true this is? Any Ezzy users like to comment?

Have a few. Haven't noticed that. They are fine.
What does "recent years" mean? 1? 2? 3 years?
And, what sort of damage would be expected?

From what I understand the last couple of years and just accelerated wear and tear.
This is what I have been told and am just enquiring whether guys on the forum who know and use Ezzy's have found that to be the case?

I have Ezzys from 2008 to 2015 and have seen nothing that would lead me to think their product quality has changed one bit.

In that time I have had to repair one batten because someone stood on it.

The only thing that changed is the material for the sail in the upper part. In the good old Wave SE times it was complete xply that was indestructible.
Now Ezzy opted for some light weight material in the head that also my Simmer Icon sails have. After three years that materials has some wholes here and there but all due to pulling the sails through the surf. Not really appropriate use...
With my old Wave SE the sails last longer but where also heavier. It is a trade off.

I've got 2012 - 2015 Cheetahs and Tigers, use them almost daily for 3 years and never had an issue with them

Only problem I have is every time I use them I get this stupid grin i can't wipe off.
They really are that nice to use IMHO.

To some extent, it seems like four and three batten has a tendency to get a bit more worn in shorter time than five batten sails from the same brand/construction. More cloth moving around, less of a frame to support the sail shape and panels. At least if used in proper waves or rougher conditions.

Even if I the feeling of the sails were not really to my liking, prefer a more neutral feeling, I was well impressed by the build quality of the Ezzy Elites I had for a bit more than three weeks on Maui getting pounded by some decent winter swells over the reef(s). Got some of my most solid rinsings ever at Kuau, not a scratch on the sails.

I had '08 42, 47, 52, 60 and upgraded to '10 Wave panther II - all were bomber.

I have not used my new '15 Elites - 42, 47, 53, 61.

I did get a Cheetah 7.5 and they seem just as well made.

Same, and my Elite too. I've only ever used a couple of other brands but for me nothing compared when it came to quality, durability and ease of use on and off the water.

Agreed! And the downhaul and outhaul setting markers are genius!

Ezzys are by far and away the most popular sail here on the coast of central California, super strong and super reliable.
Here's a pic of KP on his while he was here last month, he swears by them also, even though he's sponsored by them, but he's a pretty honest guy.

Awesome sails that are very well made and they perform and are easy to rig. They also stand behind their products as well or better than anyone.

I have had Ezzy sails of various year models up to 2015. More recent year models are lighter and may not be as tough up top, but still would consider the quality to be very very good.
Mostly Panthers and Cheetahs.
Having used most brands, Ezzy's seem to have the lowest down haul tension.
I'm no engineer, but to me a sail designed to perform with less downhaul tension has to last longer and have less stretch over time. Not to mention the mast will be thanking you as well.
All my ezzy's can be downhauled easily with bare hands.
My NCX in comparison takes a leg press with the rope attached to the harness.
