Hallo to everybody, searching info about exocet slalom board (here in Italy exocet is a brand almost unknown) I've found your forum. I saw a topic for RS 2016 but is too old to reply there so must start a new topic. If someone of would be so kind to answer me I have a couple of questios: first I read that exocet slalom are desribed as smooth board, good jibe and in general good for surfer that aren't PWA pro: does this meaning that Exocet RS line is more a freerace like RRD Firestorm or JP super sport or is a real slalom board like ISonic, JP slalom, Xfire?
Second question, I'm interested buy a RS3 and I've found a used 2016 model and a new (still packed) 2014 model; do you know if there are some diferences between 2014 and 2016 model in term of shape and/or construction?

Here we have exocet coming every year, and there are a few good sailors that race with them, so I can answer that it is a slalom board, not a free race. I have rs2, rs3 and rs5 from 2013 and I found that they are easy to sail and jibe, very safe in overpowered and choppy conditions. But I don't race , I am technically challenged . The difference with 2014 and 2016 models I think are the cut outs at the back, I am sure soon someone else will provide more information.

the 2016 model is a bit different, because of the coutouts. The board should ride a littel bit higher than previous models. That?s a good thing, because the older models were riding very flat.
The 2016 model should be still very comfortable and easy to use for a slalom board.

I am thinking at the moment to replace my Futura 111 with a Exocet RS4. So I am also interested in this topic.

3? Awesome! Did you have made some stress test? Board is strong enough? What year are your Cross? mine is 2014

I've got a 2013 RS4 and it's very plug and play and floats over the chop. very forgiving and user friendly.. I've got isonic slalom boards for flatter water but love the softer ride of my RS in the chop..

I've had just one opportunity to test the RS3 with 5.8 and I've big problem of spin out with the Black Project 50 degrees 34 (depth26). It is my impression or the RS needs bigger fin? Seeing it, the board seems bigger then his size above all the tail is realy voluminuos.

I don't have much experience but I used to use a 38 makani weedie in my 115ltre 75cm wide exocet freemove ( potato chip thin style of board with a pintail.) It was my favourite fin for the 7.8m sail so I bought a similar one for the RS4 ( 111ltre) but it's too small.
I know the tail is bulkier on the RS4 . I've ordered the next size up ( 43cms) and fingers crossed it will do the job.
I use a 33 makani on my RS2..
I've tried the 38cm BP50 on the RS4 with a 7.5m and I find it too small. My priorities are good upwind and no spinouts..

Not so much a bigger fin, just a better one!

I've bought same fin for my 7.5, hoping that for the RS3 it will work better than for RS4. I've the same priorities: upwind and no spin out cause I'm used to push hard with the back foot
