Thoughts on 2012 RRD 75l Quad? I've got the 92l one and love it. My other board is a 70l evo, but it's just a bit too small so doesn't get much use . But I'm not sure if a 75l is going to be still too small and is it too big a gap 75l - 92l? I'm 75kg.

I don't think the 75 would be too small. I'm 85kg's, had the 2013 75 and sailed it as my main board.

The gap from your 92 should be ok, sail the 92 in drifting conditions and the 75 as soon as you can plane. They do plane up early. If you like the feel of the 92 stick with the same board.

If you can find a 2013 model give it a try. I thought they felt a bit looser than the 2012, but still plane early.

Great pics sloth. Yeah I think I'll go for a 75l. They are awesome boards. I've only found a 2011 & 2012 one for sale so far, but will keep my eyes peeled for a 2013. Ta.

Very minimal outline change which apparently only made them better but i have not ridden one after '13

My only complaint is I wish they made a 110L ish, a 92 and a 100 is too close.

I've had a couple of goes now on the 2015 Hardcore wave 88. I haven't tried the older models to compare but I was pretty impressed with its all round performance after making a few changes to suit my lanky frame. I would recommend getting a try on one if possible. You can set up as a quad or thruster to suit conditions/style. It turned nice, floated me well at 90 kg due to having the volume where you need. I normally sail custom boards so was interested to see how the latest crop of production boards where advancing, I was pretty impressed by it. It has a similar bottom shape to one of my smaller custom's that I love. I've since ordered a 98 to use as my light wind setup.

I think the 2013 changed the outline shape from the 2012, but the shape hasn't changed since then. As far as I know the model in the pictures is still the same for 2015. Paul at 2nd wind will know for sure.

Try to get a sail on the RRD Firewave 112. I haven't sailed that size yet, but the 102 was a winner for me and had a similar feel. Not as skatey as the Quad but still easy to throw around for the size, felt small once up and planning but still had heaps of float that was stable to balance on. There are probably looser big boards out there, but this had a good balance of early planning and upwind with easy to turn. For me getting into position to ride a wave in those light conditions is half the challenge.

Troppo - was that Demark?

RRD boards - great shape, but not well made in my opinion. I had 2 Cult Quads (75/83L, im 70kg), bases delaminated completely on both boards after 3 seasons. They may have improved their construction, but I wont buy a new RRD again, but would be happy to buy an ex-demo / slightly used one at half price, just wouldn't be prepared to pay $2500 for a new one.

I see a LOT more delams in other brands than I do in RRD.

That is unfair criticism I think as any delam is a Cobra factory problem not an RRD problem, as RRD specify top line construction/ materials and a delam is a lack of resin (or rough finished styro with less bonding surface)..
The 2011 -14 Innegra/Carbon "Contest" construction is brilliant as they used better materials - NOT just using less materials as some "Pro" and "Team" models in other brands do.



But yes agreed, I'd be pretty bummed out if 2 boards both delam'd after 3 seasons
