We're planning to be there the first two weeks in Jan.

Unimpressed with their new pricing - not so family friendly! We need a "Bring back Brian" and the old Elanda Point campaign!!!!

Those prices are insane!!
Just wondering if after going multiple times every year for 37 years if we have been priced out of going again?
Very dissapointing.

I guess we'll have to see if "the market" accepts the pricing, if it doesn't then the rates will drop. I just went and checked pricing for us to waterfront camp for January 4-13 (9 nights) with the van and it is $594. It was a shade under $400 I thought when we last went just over a year ago.

Two things that we must accept are 1: the previous pricing was not viable, ie the joint was getting run into the ground and the owners couldn't wanted out because presumably they couldn't make a good enough living out of it and didn't have the capital to fix the joint up; and 2: there are all new facilities that now have to be paid for

I just checked Boreen Point campground for the same period and it was $405 for our van. Does Boreen become the next Jeffery's Point or does Elanda have to become an "off peak" option?

Just did Friday to Sunday there with family in the camper trailer. Kids loved it. Had an unpowered site and it was 55 per night and 50 m to the beach. Facilities were good. I think I rather here than Boreen Point.

Did 65 km of sailing Sat afternoon while the kids played at the beach which was very safe.

Loved it! until the storm hit but it was nothing anyway.

Going back in January for a 4 day stay.

The only bloody bad thing was going for a beer at the bar and you could only choose their own craft beer which was absolute crap. (Who wants beer with a splash of mango and passion fruit - FMD)

By way of info re: Elanda.

The new lessee runs Discovery Tours and now departs from Elanda rather than Noosaville to the Everglades.
When the proposal materialised a few years ago, the lessee had already bent the ear of council and ministers before becoming public knowledge trying to shore up a position. There was a reasonable amount of opposition due to lack of detail and safeguards for environment etc. Typically, concerns were largely ignored. We are yet to see the outcome of the jetty proposal.

No-one would debate that the previous lessees had run the place down, but it was remarkable that families especially flocked here and thouroughly enjoyed the natural environment , despite this delapidation , for many years.

Discovery have many strings to their bow including the river tours and Fraser Island tours etc. and likely others Im not aware of. Many, including myself, forecast the price gouge that seems to always be associated with this kind of thing. Discovery do not need to take a long time family friendly and affordable venue and turn it in to recreation for the rich. I'm thoroughly disappointed but not surprised that there was no caveat to maintain affordable camping even if there was still the "glamping" options available for those who wanted it.

I think they should be condemned for this action and told as often as posssible that it is unacceptable. The pattern of re-development has seen a broad scale reduction in affordable camping and recreation across the sth east in particular as those who are old enough to recall will know, Elanda is just another example.

While the old place was rough, and Brian's colour sense was questionable, at least the kids could rock up and get a few cheapish icecreams and a few mozzie coils. Not sure if there's a shop but we made the mistake of getting lunch there and while food is ok, prices are not. Sure, you can choose to eat there or not but there's nothing in the model for the place that appeals to the average family.

Fortunately I'm at Boreen but have fond memories of Elanda camping and windsurfing while the kids were growing up,sadly not a realistic option for many any more.

After good breeze here at Boreen peaking on Friday, it has been softening to a pretty average 10 knots yesterday. Big sails big boards and even boats are the go. And an occasional Leo foiling near the boats.
Could not see too many sails coming out of Elanda late yesterday from my boat.
Great camping weather = average sailing.
