I have started to build a windsurfing trailer I bought an old 7 b 5 trailer that I could use the bits and pieces off
Made a rough plan as a guide to go off of
Started to build the frame
Looks great so far Adam.
What are you going to do for the rear door? My next mod is too make it full length hinged at the top. Shade and keep out more rain.
Some kind of access at the front really helps to get to the small stuff that ends up, up the front.
Where are your booms going? Are they going on the right hand side? I was going to do that, but didn't think I had enough space. Ended up just putting them on top of the boards and making the slots and sail slots bigger..
Which works okay as the boards have covers. 300 space between works fine for this. I have 500 width by 300 high where the sails go and can fit 2 large or 3 small in these. I reckon you would struggle to get two in 337 by 300.
I wonder if 850 might end up a bit narrow if you get a light wind board. Mine are 950 and I left the top rack full width. Can fit the formula or my two smaller boards on the top shelf.
Also, my biggest sails need to go on an angle because of the angled nose. So the top shelf is good for that too.
You sailing on Saturday? maybe we can compare notes.
Hi Brad I'm hoping to put a little door in the front for access and the back door will be the whole length and open up ways the booms will sit on hooks from the rack that can beat slide in and out not sure yet how I am going to fit the mas work in progress

My mate got the racks built today. The racks can be put in and out. The next step is to move the racks back out and put the floor in. When we will be putting bracing in where needed
I went 950 with the racks Brad it only left me 175 one side but that should be enough for him to get the boom in and sailes on the other side. Still trying to work out where I'm going to put the masts
Looks great Adam.
Puts my old girl to shame.
Probably too late now, but under the bottom rack would have been a good spot.
Maybe grab 4 pieces of conduit and put it vertical up the side of the bottom middle rack. Should still leave enough room for a smaller board and you will have the length for a big mast in the middle there.
I would get another piece welded in to hold the conduit in place. I screwed some conduit in to hold my extensions but they vibrate loose after a while.
Jeff's has pretty good set up for masts on the edges I think. I was going to do that with mine, but I picked up an old sail bag with the slots in the bottom that fits nicely in the bottom sail rack.
Keep the photos coming.
The floor is just sitting in now ready for a tests it with some of my gear
No sailing for me on the weekend going to Brisbane to test my gear on the trailer and sort out some other little bits and pieces.
Did a test fit with some of my gear all fits well. Used poly sheets for the roof to keep the heat out. Worked out the mast will go on the top rack in 60 mm PVC pipe.
Just quit my job, need to buy a welder i think.
Looks great.
Has it been expensive? Ball park...
Thanks for the updates Im keen to give it a go.
Did some more work on the trailer today
Just a couple more things to do. Mudguards has to be put on and folded up. The light to be connect up and gas struts put in the back then tidy up a few odds and ends
Agreed Jeff, I think there might have to be some sort of levy payable in beer for trailer parking. But yeah Adam, it's coming up good.
Fricken locals, think they own the joint.
Might bring my van next time, park it sideways and yell at you lot for walking through my site!!
Oh yeah, trailer looks good too Adam.
Gave mine a coat of paint on the weekend, to lessen the embarrassment.
Hey Brad, if you bring a van with refrigeration, deck chairs and music .............. i'll bring the beer
Mud guards have been started
One more afternoon after work and the trailer should be very close to being finished hopefully it all finished by early next week. The Race Is On to get a car park at Sandstone. The early bird gets the worm or the car park.
Bloody hell Adam, we're going to get sunburnt sitting next to that, I hope you're working on refrigeration and music

Just a few questions on how?
1) How did you attach the checker plate to the frame? Tack weld and rivets?
2) Is the angle put over the corners with silicon then rivets!
3) Did you put a frame in for the door?
4) how are the mud guards attached to the sides?
5) What did you use for the roof?
Great looking trailer.
Checker plate is riveted on and glue to the frame to stop rattling. Both doors have a frame. The roof is made out of 60 mil refrigeration panelling. Some of the angle have been silicon down and Same are going to be slick after. The mudguards are still work in progress hoping to be able to weld a piece from chassis to give them some strength. Thanks for the question hope this answers some of them
